We went on a caravan holiday last week. I’d dearly love to report that it was a classic fifties mobile campervan which took us to various exotic locations, but the truth is that it was a static caravan near Prestatyn, with all mod cons. Nonetheless we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend North Wales to anyone for a few days away. The best thing about it… well, there was the beach, the swimming pools with huge swirly slides, the difference of being in a caravan. But the absolute best thing was that as we’re on secondhand safari so can’t buy anything new for a year we didn’t take up a single second of our time trawling round shops. And I didn’t miss it for one second. We nipped into a few charity shops, but we weren’t really in the mood and picking were slim. Our one purchase was am uninflated beach ball which we blew up and took along to the beach, But that was it. And it meant that the time that we had there was spent just being together, relaxing and doing other things. This ‘no new shopping’ thing is still not feeling like a drag, and I have to say that surprises me. ![]()
